Morris Dancing

The tradition of morris dancing stretches back for several hundred years. It has nothing to do with ancient rites and is nothing more than an excellent form of entertainment for both dancers and audiences alike

Morris dancing exists in a number of forms; the most familiar being Cotswold morris as danced by Mad Hatter. The dances are performed by groups of six people holding either sticks or handkerchiefs

The music is a joy and a few dances incorporate songs which the whole side can join in with. Also, around Christmas time, sides put on mummers' plays so morris covers several performing arts. It's a light hearted, varied and inclusive pleasure
